The program offered at Camp Basilone is an “Historical Adventure” experience. A 1960's immersion encampment created to give civilians the chance to experience what it was like for US Marines receiving their last training prior to being sent to Vietnam. The Camp is constructed and coordinated by military historians and veterans. At Camp Basilone, participants experience something similar to what some of the more fortunate Marines encountered during their training.

The Marine Corps Historical Association is fully aware of the terrible hardships these Marines, and many other veterans, endure for our freedoms. We do not intend to minimize or trivialize the experience of veterans. Instead we hope to provide civilians with an educational experience.

The MCHA is a nonprofit educational organization. As such it is nonpolitical and is not a recruiting mechanism of the US Armed Forces.

The Marine Corps Historical Association, MCHA, a nonprofit organization, is founded to promote the history of the United States Marine Corps, the importance of national pride, service to others, and the maintenance of a drug and gang-free lifestyle to youth through a rewarding program which is both physically and mentally challenging.

Both active duty and former Marines offer training to Living Historians, Cadets, and interested persons, through MCHA Schools at Camp Basilone.
